This modeling clay recipe is one that will harden nicely in order to be used for crafts and school projects.
First lets gather up all of our ingredients:
1 cup of cornstarch
2 cups of baking soda
1 ½ cups of cold water
Food coloring
A damp towel
Step 1:
In a cooking pot, combine all of the ingredients and stir until you have a smooth base.
Step 2:
Using a low heat bring the mixture to a boil while stirring out any lumps that appear while you are mixing. Take the mixture off the heat once it is at about the same consistency of mashed potatoes.
Step 3:
Lay your damp towel out and flip the clay mixture out onto it. Wrap the clay completely in the towel to prevent hardening until the mixture cools.
Step 4:
Knead the mixture until you have the consistency you want.
Step 5:
Knead in food coloring if you wish to use it.
Step 6:
Enjoy your new homemade clay.
Tip: If you are not using the clay for modeling then store in plastic baggies in order to help prevent hardening.
